CSRA Driving School is based on Shortcut Road in North Augusta, and this is where most of our students start. Lessons are one-on-one, in a dual-control vehicle, scheduled around school and work.
Driving Lessons in North Augusta
We teach on the roads your road test will actually be conducted on. That matters more than people expect — a student who has only practiced in an empty parking lot is not ready for a left turn onto Knox Avenue at 5 p.m.
Typical North Augusta students come to us in one of three situations:
- A 15-year-old with a fresh beginner’s permit, starting the 180-day clock and working toward a conditional license at 15½.
- A 16-year-old who has the hours but not the confidence, and wants road test preparation before booking the test.
- An adult who never got around to it, or who learned in another country and needs to pass the South Carolina road test.
What We Cover Locally
Residential and neighborhood driving
Quiet starts for first-time drivers — stop signs, four-way intersections, pedestrians, parked cars and driveways.
Busier corridors
Multi-lane roads, turn lanes, merging and traffic-light timing, once the basics are solid.
Bridge and river crossings
Crossing between South Carolina and Georgia is routine here. Students should be comfortable doing it before they do it alone.
Road test maneuvers
Parallel parking, backing in a straight line, controlled stops and lane changes — the things that are actually scored.
Serving the Wider CSRA
We regularly work with students from Aiken, Belvedere, Clearwater, Graniteville and across the river in Augusta and Evans. If you are not sure whether you are within range, call and ask — it is a short conversation.
Before Your First Lesson
Bring your valid South Carolina beginner’s permit. You must have it with you at every behind-the-wheel session — no permit, no lesson, and that is a state rule rather than ours.
